Two girls (8 and 11 at the time) and their mom having fun creating unique pieces that are stylish and fun to wear, enabling us to love others and give a little back...
A “hot summer day craft” turned into a business: One summer, to pass the time, we started making jewelry with a jewelry craft kit one of the girls received as a birthday present and some old beads and pieces we had laying around. Next, we began to attend local antique fairs and buying some more vintage pieces and beads and making more jewelry. After wearing the jewelry and having people ask me where I purchased it, we decided to begin selling the jewelry. My 8 year old helped me register our LLC with the Secretary of State and set up a bank account. My 11 year old designed the logo. All three of us enjoyed creating pieces and the time we got to spend together. Making some money was an added bonus!
However, the three of us wanted to do more than just have a business and desired to use some of the proceeds to support a girls' home we visit in West Africa in the summers. We have met and spent weeks with these at risk girls, and they need food, clothing and an education, just like we do. Therefore, a portion of all sales go to this girls' home, and we hope to continue to increase our support every year. And thus, jbm designs llc was formed! We hope you find a treasure or two.
